Summary:

The Alzheimer Society of Ontario's Finding Your Way® program has partnered with the University of Alberta to create a website where people can learn about living safely in the community.

60 percent of people with dementia-related memory problems become lost at some point. For many people, getting lost happens without warning. Familiar surroundings may suddenly become strange to them. They get disoriented and are unable to find their way home. Becoming lost isn’t just distressing; it can be dangerous. Half the people with dementia who go missing for 24 hours end up seriously injured or dead.

The new site, hosted on the Alzheimer Society of Ontario’s website, provides categorized, user-friendly and easy to compare information on locator devices.

This webinar will discuss Finding Your Way® and the research behind locating technology and its impact on people living with dementia and their caregivers.
